DisplayPort ApplicationsDisplayPort™ Applications

DisplayPort is the new digital display interface standard. It defines a license-free, royalty-free, digital audio/video interconnect, intended to be used primarily between a computer and its display or a computer and a home theater system. Speeds range up to 2.7 Gb/s, with a roadmap to 5.4 Gb/s.

BERTScope Approved for Sink AND Source Testing

The BERTScope has been approved for both Sink and Source testing to the CTS (Compliance Test Specification) version 1.1. Using the BERTScope solution, engineers can test DisplayPort transmitters and receivers, using a test methodology that has already gained approval by VESA, the organization responsible for the DisplayPort standard.

Sink and Source testing is made easy with the BERTScope DisplayPort solution, which provides a straightforward way for engineers to know if their design is on track for DisplayPort logo approval.

Sink Testing

  • BERTScope was the first sink test equipment to be approved for CTS 1.1.
  • Ability to generate SSC and large amounts of jitter at the same time. For example, 9.7% RJ (60 ps) and 2 MHz 98.1% SJ (605 ps) simultaneously with SSC at 1.62 Gb/s.
  • Generation of true random jitter so that the 37-second (shortest) test does not become 185 identical tests of 200 ms each. This enables accurate execution of up to 100 errors pass/fail, per DisplayPort specifications.
  • Versatile AUX Channel Controller compatible with all DisplayPort devices, Source and Sink. Industry-leading display of parameters including EDID for identification of display type, vendor, data rate capability, audio format support, etc.
  • Automated Lane Switch eliminates tedious manual cable changes, improving efficiency of testing.
  • Integrated Test Automation Software makes compliance easy with single-click test initiation for unattended operation, and goes beyond compliance with built-in characterization and debugging tools.

Source Testing

  • BERTScope has been approved for CTS 1.1 Source testing.
  • Direct 10-9 BER jitter measurements without estimation in 12 seconds.
  • Mask (Eye Diagram) test in less than 2 seconds.
  • Versatile AUX Channel Controller compatible with all DisplayPort devices, Source and Sink.
  • SSC measurements including dF/dt using the BERTScope CR 12500A.
